Kingston Council's cycling team will be holding a free event in August to be held in two locations in the town centre. If you're new to cycling or would like to start don't be intimidated or think you're not good enough, because the event is aimed at all ages and abilities.

Bike Maintenance and Cycling Tips, will be held at Kingston Market Place on Sunday 7 August 10-3pm. If you're thinking about starting cycling or haven't cycled for a while, this event is for you - cycle trainers will spend the day giving enthusiasts advice on how to stay safe on the roads, as well as top tips for looking after your bike.

Bikes will also be available for test riding, while 'Dr Bike' will be on hand to offer bike maintenance advice. There will also be free bike repair classes throughout the day as well as demos on how to fix common problems.

Members of the Kingston Cycle Campaign and the London Cycle Campaign will also be free to offer advice.

Cycling with Young Children, will be held in the grounds of the Guildhall, High Street, also on Sunday 7 August, 10.30am-3pm. Cycling is an ideal family activity - cycling trainers will be on hand all day to offer advice on cycling with children and there will also be bikes with trailers, child seats and tag-alongs to test drive and assemble.

Other highlights include an opportunity for all ages to cycle in a safe environment, refreshments and information about Sky Rides - rides organised by British Cycling.
