A man who burgaled a house in Malden Way in June 2011 has sentenced to 18 months behind bars.

36-year-old Carlos Esteban Hernandez-Garcia pleaded guilty to the two residential burglaries.

Garcia was a passenger in a car stopped in Suffolk on November 20 for other alleged offences and charged the following day.

An extensive check by an alert police officer had identified him as the man wanted in connection with burglaries committed in South West London.

"Garcia was linked through forensics to these burglaries," advises Detective Inspector Simon Day, who heads the Kingston based team that investigates burglaries.

He added: "It has taken some time to locate Garcia but we are pleased that he has now been found, arrested and charged."

"Residential burglary is a disturbing and intrusive offence and our team is dedicated to ensuring these criminals are brought to court and account for their crimes.

"The UK Border Agency are aware of the sentence"
