Did you know that Peacocks store was originally a Sainsburys in 1923 and the Post Office used to be where Barnnard Marcus is?

I bought this book for my husband for Christmas as i came across it on amazon.co.uk. It's a lovely book to have a flick through as it's essentially a picture book through time of the New Malden area.

New Malden was 'born' in the 1860s as developers started building houses in the fields around Malden and Coombe. It has since grown and grown and in 1965 was absorbed into the Borough of Kingston upon Thames.

There are some truly fascinating photographs in this book that trace the many ways in which New Malden has changed and developed over the last century.

New Malden library have a few copies available which you can find in the Local History section (half way up on the right hand side as you enter the library) or you can buy it from Amazon

New Malden Through Time is written by Tim Everson, a resident and semi-professional author and local historian.

Couldn't agree more, BeckyCreative about this book. This is a must have for any New Malden resident its really fascinating how much has changed in the area (unfortunately not for the better in some cases) and parts which remain spookily the same even after all these years.

Nice trip back through memory lane.
