Public sector workers are due to go on strike next Wednesday because of proposed changes to pensions, but how will you be affected?
-
Holy Cross School will be closed next Wednesday
Ministers expect two thirds of schools to close, and some staff in hospitals will be on strike which would cause some delays. The government does not believe that emergency services will be hit.
35 schools will be closed in the Royal Borough of Kingston or 56.5% of schools affected, including Tolworth Girls School, Coombe Girls and Holy Cross - New Malden People is in the process of finding out which other schools will be affected.
If you would like to get involved, there will be strike march and rally taking place at 9.30am outside Kingston University, called by Hands off our Pensions in Surrey (HOOPS) and supported by Kingston GMB, Kingston Anti-Cuts Group, Surrey UNISON and Surrey Save our Services. March through Kingston to tell the government NO. They will be going past and picking up picket lines, delivering tea, coffee and solidarity along the way. Finally, there will be a rally at the Richard Mayo centre on Eden Street at the end and then towards the London rally.
