Today was the day when nervous GCSE students across New Malden finally received their results - and it seems that for many of the Year 11 pupils at Holy Cross Catholic School in Sandal Road, all the studying has paid off.

"The results are excellent and this is due to two factors, our outstanding students and wonderful, dedicated staff," said Holy Cross Headteacher Mr Gibson. "This year, A* and A grades made up 42% of all results."

We also chatted to Year 11 students Maria, Isabel, Julia, Belina and Ciara to find out how they were feeling:

Maria: "I'm pretty pleased, I've done better than I thought I would."

Isabel: "I'm really happy, the hard work has definitely paid off!"

Julia: "Despite many sleepless nights I passed everything and got what I needed so am really happy. Study leave definitely helped, too."

Belina: "I'm happy, we weren't expecting such good results and are pleasantly surprised."

Ciara: "I passed everything and did well in subjects I wanted to do well in which was very important to me."

Congratulations to the Year 11 students at Holy Cross!
