Worcester Park man jailed for conspiracy to steal

Girry Richardson, 20, of The Hollands, Worcester Park has been jailed for conspiracy to steal.

He was part of a three who pleaded guilty following an investigation by the police.

19-year-old Charlie Critchley of St Georges Gardens in Surbiton will also spend the next two years in Prison.  

Nicholas George Carter, 20 of Hawkwood Crescent, E4 was also jailed.

On 21 August 2012, officers who were acting on gathered intelligence, conducted surveillance on Richardson's home address in Surrey.

He and Carter were seen to leave in a Nissan Juke before collecting Critchley.

A short time later, Richardson was spotted changing the vehicle's number plates to those registered to a legitimate hire firm.

Officers followed the vehicle to a Sainsbury's car park on London Road, North Cheam where the gang were spotted monitoring a cash delivery.

During the course of the morning, the gang - who were wearing gloves and hooded tops in summer - were witnessed following the cash-in-transit vehicle to various supermarkets, banks and bookmakers.

On occasion, the men were seen getting out of the Nissan and approaching the van and custodian.

Officers took the decision to stop the vehicle in Burlington Road, New Malden.

The three men were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to rob and taken to a south London police station.

An angle grinder and electronic equipment, believed to be used to 'jam' electronic signals were recovered from the vehicle.

On 22 August 2012 the men were charged with conspiracy to rob.

The men had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to steal but not guilty to conspiracy to rob. They were tried for that offence and found not guilty and so sentenced for conspiracy to steal.
