So there I was on Saturday evening, waiting for the bus at the Wellington Crescent stop on Kingston Road. The time was just after 5pm and it was mighty cold - brrrr! But I didn't have to wait too long thankfully as I saw the 131 bus approaching in the distance. I grabbed my oyster card out of my bag and prepared to board the bus as it pulled up at the stop, and waited for the driver to open the doors. And waited... I noticed that the bus was pretty full and then the driver pulled away from the bus stop without letting me and a couple of other people on. The reason why the bus was so full is because it was full of football fans who had just left Kingsmeadow following a match, but I wasn't too worried because the bus stop reader told me another one would be along in a few minutes time. And guess what? This time the bus didn't even stop! Starting to panic as I was now running late, I decided that there was only one thing for it but to walk to New Malden station. Now I don't consider the area to be unsafe but I ended up walking along the Kingston Road end of 'The Cut' which, in the dark, is not something I would normally choose to do, but I had no other option. Has anyone else had problems getting on a bus on match fixture Saturdays in the evenings? Wouldn't it be great if more frequent services were put on even if just for an hour so the football fans could be ferried out of the area?!

I'm often on the bus coming home from Kingston on match afternoons and have noticed how squashed it gets when the fans pile onto the bus at the stop opposite Kingsmeadow. Your story sounds really frustrating and I do sympathise, can't see an increase in the number of buses on the service though realistically.
