It's a controversial move that is bound to divide opinion - one council in the West Country is now charging residents £1.20 each time they use their local waste/recycling tip.

And with other councils across the country (including Kingston no doubt) watching to see whether the experiment is a success or not, newmaldenpeople wondered if you would be happy to pay to get rid of your waste, or would you consider the move to be quite frankly, rubbish?

I asked one of my neighbours for her opinion and this is what she said: "It all depends on the cost of course but I wouldn't mind paying it if the only alternative was to drive much further away and end up spending more on petrol."

Newmaldenpeople wants to know what YOU think about this, so please do leave your comments here!
