The centre achieved an outstanding overall pass rate of 99.1% this year, against 95.5% in 2008. 18.5% of students gained the new A* or A grade, enabling successful transition to their first choice universities.
Director of Sixth Form, Dave Peters, said: “This result reflects our determination to support all our students and to prepare them to face the future confidently. We are particularly pleased at the way in which the students have improved on their AS results, which demonstrates outstanding determination to work hard and succeed. We are very proud of them.”
Deputy Head Boy, David Bowman, gained 3A*s and 1A at A Level – a pleasing result as he is intending to read Mathematics at Cambridge University.
Other outstanding Coombe students include Tajmeet Kalra, incoming Deputy Headboy, who gained 6 A grades at AS Level and Laura Burrows and Matthew Crabtree who both gained 4 A grades at AS Level.
“We are thrilled to see our students excelling in this way,” commented Headteacher Carol Campbell. “Students must be fully prepared and their results are a vital part of the story. This year’s results are better than ever and it is encouraging to see the work of staff, students and parents alike justly rewarded”.
