Whether you're thinking of moving to New Malden or already live here, a great source of local crime and ant-social behaviour information can be found at www.police.uk.

The site, which was launched earlier this week, caused so much interest on launch day that it crashed numerous times, but is now fully back up to speed.

So how does it work? You simply enter your town, postcode or street into the search box on the home page (postcode is best for more accurate information), then you'll be able to find out information on crime and anti-social behaviour, details on your neighbourhood policing team and a calendar of events and meetings.

Thankfully, when I looked at the data for my street, there was only one 'other crime' reported in December 2010 - I think this was because one of my neighbours had a plant pot stolen from outside her house.

And while I am certainly not condoning plant pot (or other) theft, it does in a way prove that generally, New Malden is a safe and non threatening place to live!

What do you think of the site? Let us know!
