Have to admit, I usually frequent The Glass House for my beer or meal out with friends/family/the Mrs. But the other night after a did a quick shop I popped into Bar Malden for a pint. What a dissapointment. On walking in, friendly greeting by the bar man - so off to a good start, but thats where it ended. Of the 2/3 "hand pump" Ales at the bar, it looked though they had run out. In fact, the barman had forgot to turn the labels around - great marketing there! Both were in fact available and were a good mix/selection. Once I received my pint which wasn't bar (clear and clean), I looked around the place and the only conculsion I can come up with is the place needs a thorough and comprehensive deep clean. Carpets, windows, the bar was cluttered and dirty. Yes the place is in need of a refurb, but this should not negate the need of basic cleanliness. I went to the loos and although they are again in need of a general overhaul (nothing big), dirty and unchecked. I asked the barman what he thought about the new Whetherspoons opening just down the High Street. He said they would be impacted by their Fri/Sat night trade going to Whetherspoons instead of Bar Malden. Thing is, they have a great position right near the Station, under all the offices etc and they are probably missing this trade. So, Bar Malden, if you read this - get your hot soapy water, invest in a window clearer and give the place a good clean - people might start coming back!

Bar Malden is a very popular pub in New Malden and situated on St Georges Square as soon as you exit the train station. They offer an eclectic range of drinks and is regularly busy after office hours.

Bar Malden has a busy city atmosphere. Located directly outside of New Malden train station the bar has a decent selection of beers wines, and a good quality food menu. With big offices located in the square youll often find it to be busy on a Friday night but unlike some pubs it can be bearable as waiting for service doesnt take too long and there is plenty of room across 2 floors.
